Welcome to Karvouna Mezze! 

Meze or mezze is a selection of small dishes served as appetizers in the Near East, the Balkans, and parts of Central and South Asia. In Levantine, South Caucasian, and Balkan cuisines, meze is often served at the beginning of multi-course meals. - wikipedia 

We want your meal to be a celebration, a gathering with friends or family, a party. We want you to eat the way we like to eat, together with the people around you, even when you’re alone. We’ll make sure you feel the love we have for the food we prepare, and that you leave sharing that love. Grilled and rotisserie foods are our specialty, as well as Greek liquors. Raki, lamb, mastiha, salads, wine - we’re here to help you celebrate with us!

Chef Giuseppe Scalco, born and raised in Athens, but bred in the surrounding villages, has cut his teeth for years on the sights and sounds of village and city street food in Greece. The past few years he’s spent at fine NYC Greek restaurants has helped focus that young vision. Refined and expanded for the demanding NYC palate, our menu reflects the sense of adventure he brings to it.

Chef Richard Chirol, our pastry chef, has been crafting European desserts for decades, working in restaurants around the world. Delicate and artistic, his dedication to creating beauty through food shows in our pastries and custom cakes.

Greg Seider crafts cocktails for the top standout modern “alchemy” bars that are so popular in NYC. His drinks at Karvouna are meant to introduce Raki, Mastiha, and Ouzo to New Yorkers, so they can appreciate the balance of these wonderful liquors. 

We’re all here to show our customers what it really means to “eat, live, and love like a Greek” We want you to enjoy your time with us, we want you to think of us as a home away from home.
